Our Story
Recovery Plus Support started from a home-based office of 3 focused and passionate mental health professionals. With directors with over 45 years of experience in the mental health industry, having served various roles across Australia & New Zealand, we are a team that brings forth a wealth of knowledge and expertise.
Our Directors and Their Contribution
Our directors have always wanted to bring a recovery-oriented model into the mental health sector in Australia as they could see a significant gap between mainstream & funded services, as well as the understanding of complex mental health.
Through years of research within the mainstream & NDIS space, they discovered partnership options that could build and embody a recovery model that can best assist participants in their recovery journey and help them achieve their goals. In the early 2000’s, our managing director was very fortunate to be part of the recovery model integration into New Zealand’s mental health space. This experience helped them identify their passion for building people’s capacity to engage in recovery.
Our Roadmap: We Innovate and Excel
01
In August 2019
In August 2019, Recovery Plus Mental Health services was born and proposed for registration within the NDIS Framework.
02
In July 2020
In July 2020, the NDIS released an updated price guide with the addition of a line item – Psychosocial Recovery Coaching. We were proudly the first NDIS provider to offer Recovery Coaching service, pioneering the framework of recovery-oriented practice. Since then, we have offered Psychosocial Recovery Coaching while targeting continuous improvement.
03
During 2020-2022
During 2020-2022, our directors reviewed Psychosocial Recovery Coaching and its effectiveness in reaching recovery goals. The constructive criticism we received allowed us to pinpoint specific areas that require improvement and we worked on those fronts and made some changes. One key aspect which needed work was the service delivery pattern. In general, Recovery Coaches were fulfilling roles such as Support Coordinator or Case Manager as opposed to working 1:1 with participants, outlining and planning their personalised recovery journey that lies ahead.
04
2023 and Beyond
To further improve the effectiveness of Psychosocial Recovery Coaching, we partnered with a team of clinicians and professionals to develop and implement a structured program – Recovery Coaching Plus! We closely monitored the potential of this program in contributing to the overall growth and well-being of the participants and improved our processes. We brought innovation to the core of our service delivery and tailored our services to meet the changing needs of the participants. We formulated a participant-centric and growth-oriented path, and we continue to walk on the path, deriving positive outcomes.
To address this, our team at Recovery Plus Support partnered with a team of clinicians and professionals to develop and implement a more structured program – Recovery Coaching Plus! This innovative and personalised take on recovery coaching enables us to promote a more sustainable approach to recovery and derive lasting results.
